Functional Testing for Digestive Health.

Uncover the CAUSE of your digestive issues by undertaking the following functional tests.

A diagnosis of IBS is not where the journey ends, this area of health is where naturopathy can really shine and provide long lasting relief for many people.

You can book your Initial Naturopathic Appointment here to discuss your gut health and if these tests might be suitable for you. Please Note: We can treat successfully with or without conducting these tests, however sometimes when having experienced gut complaints for many years without resolution, it’s valuable to know what may be the cause.

Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis CDSA

Test Code 2003 | $200

The CDSA Level 1 is a comprehensive assessment of the microbiological environment of the gut. It includes Macroscopy, Microscopy description, Bacteriology, Mycology (yeasts) and Parasitology. This test reports on pathogenic and imbalanced colonising organisms, as well as identifying the levels of beneficial flora.

The level 1 assessment is a cost effective option and can be requested when you suspect a gut infection or want to confirm/exclude dysbiosis. It is recommended to add a DNA Multiplex PCR (2002) test to any CDSA level if you suspect parasites.

Faecal Multiplex DNA PCR - Stool

Test Code 2002 | $90

PCR testing is a sensitive method for the detection of ten major enteric pathogens. The faecal PCR test detects parasite and bacterial DNA, making it a more accurate technique than a standard Micro, Culture and Sensitivity (MC&S) that would normally be requested by conventional laboratories.

The faecal PCR profile is capable of rapid, specific and sensitive detection of the bacterial and parasitic pathogens most commonly responsible for causing infectious gastroenteritis that may otherwise go undetected by traditional microbiological techniques.  PCR is based on molecular screening of parasites rather than detection of parasites based on examination of stool under a microscope.

This test often can compliment the CDSA 2003.

SIBO Breathe Test

Test Code 2025 | $240

This simple, non–invasive, gastrointestinal test detects bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine, often referred to as BOSI or SIBO. Small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is a common gastrointestinal disorder that often underlies chronic gastrointestinal symptoms of maldigestion and malabsorption, including bloating, gas, diarrhea, irregularity, and abdominal pain

Bacterial concentrations in the small intestine are normally kept to a minimum. When excessive, the delicate mucosal lining is disrupted, including the microvilli that facilitate absorption. As a result, bacterial overgrowth of the small intestine (BOSI) can inhibit nutrient absorption and lead to the following serious health problems.

Bacterial overgrowth may manifest silently, without overt clinical signs.

Complete Microbiome Mapping

Test Code 2206 | $420

The Complete Microbiome Mapping Test assesses the microbiome from a single stool sample, with particular attention to microbes that cause disease or that disrupt normal microbial balance and contribute to perturbations in the GI flora and contribute to illness.

The panel is a comprehensive collection of microbial targets as well as immune and digestive markers. It screens for pathogenic bacteria, commensal bacteria, opportunistic pathogens, fungi, viruses, and parasites.
