Supporting Teens in Sport
Watching my teenage daughter go from dizzy on the soccer field two weeks ago, having to sit some time out, to really getting into it and going for the ball this week has been amazing to see. Her response when we made this comment ….‘I didn’t feel dizzy this game’. She was beaming with happiness and pride in herself.
What simple changes did we make?
Started having a protein smoothie every morning before school. We love Hemp Foods Australia Hemp Protein in Vanilla – in Pure Harvest Almond Milk and Frozen Banana pieces. She loves the taste.
Started taking a good iron supplement every second day. We love Orthoplex Heme Synergy (practitioner prescribing only). (Note: the body only allows iron absorption every 36 hours, and only a low dose. Taking products that have a high iron content in poorly absorbed forms can upset your stomach. The iron products we sell in store are gentle on the gut).
Being a vegetarian who tends towards a vegan diet - starting in a soccer team this year has highlighted the parts of her diet that may be lacking. These include Iron, B12 and protein in her case.
The day she started the protein smoothies she was amazed at how good she felt at school that morning, not getting hungry until recess.
